Red Baron Tavern - Edgerton, Wisconsin - Burgers; Wisconsin-esque tavern
This entry was posted on 5/5/2010 1:20 AM and is filed under Taverns Wisconsin, Tavern Burgers and Fries.
Been to Red Baron Tavern now and then over the years. And, I realized I never jotted down the experience. It is after all a well-seasoned watering hole. If your looking for a couple year old neo-glitzy-bistro-retro-yuppie-construct joint...hmmm, this ain't it.
The faded signage out front boasts, "The Best Burgers in the Universe." Not sure about that, but the times I have been there the bartenders always dote over my order. It is a long narrow bar like so many in an old business strip. There is a pool table at either end of the place. Along the wall opposite the bar is posted NASCAR fantasy racing updates. The bar-top is covered with plexiglass. There is of course a foot rest. Some gaming machines wait patiently against the wall also.
The walls are painted red, something you probably will not notice at night. And the counter behind the bar is red also. There is a tiny kitchen nook by an also tiny grill. The cupboards behind the bar look homemade and are unapologetic about being refinished a few times over the years. There is no tap beer.
The bartender had the flat screens turned off the last time I was there the other day. The three or four guys at the bar (I was there in early afternoon) did not realize they were starring at the screen saver as they chatted about life.
I got a dandy cheeseburger with raw onions, fries, a side of mayo, and a can of Miller Lite. The whole affair with tip set me back about eight Bucks. And like I said, the bartender did not bat an eye at my usual request for a bit more well done burger; she nursed it along the whole way.
Red Baron Tavern is still cool with Cool Dadio. You will find them on the main drag in Edgerton, Wisconsin. They are in that cluster of taverns locals are so familiar with. They are at 124 West Fulton Street. Call (608) 884 - 6628 for more information.
