Just some tavern burgers and fries

With the gas prices pinching travel, Heide and I have been staying close to home for our weekend shenanigans.  Between the economy and my crazy job hours, this summer has been a collection of things I wanted to do but could only do each thing in part.  I love old taverns, so we ventured up the road to rural Jefferson County Wisconsin to peruse through a couple of the smaller villages.

Sullivan is known to have a couple churches and several taverns -- the consummate Wisconsin template.  We settled in at
Janie's Pub and Grill.

We were greeted at the door with a, "Welcome Home" by the bartender. The bar is in a typical old Wisconsin village store front.  The bar faces one wall, there are a few neat tables along the other wall for dining. The bar area is neat and thoughtfully tidy. Burgers and sandwiches dominate the menu.  We both ordered cheese burgers.  They came with fries. Heide tried the wedge fries and I went for traditional.

The burgers are served on a toasted powder bun. There will be a big pile of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle on the side -- there is enough to merit some salad dressing.

Janie's Pub and Grill is cool with Cool Dadio.  With adult beverage, burgers, and tip we got out of there for around 20 Bucks.  Find them in Sullivan, Wisconsin at 151 Main Street (Sullivan is in Jefferson County at Highway 18 and County Road F. Call (262) 593  -  8118 for more information.  Expect a Harley or two to be parked out front.
