Deb's Squeeze Inn - Milton - Friday Night Fish Fry

This entry was posted on 10/3/2008 7:53 PM and is filed under Friday Night Fish Fry.

Note: This is an update on The Squeeze Inn.  I rarely do updates, but the restaurant and tavern world being what it is, they have a tendency to move or change owners now and then.  As of spring 2010, Deb's Squeeze Inn is back in Milton Wisconsin.   The old original building is gone now, but they found a space within sight of the old spot, still in "The Junction" end of Milton.  I updated the address and phone number at the bottom of this original posting.  I will leave the original review in place for now and assume the menu has not changed so much just because the location indeed did.

Original October 2008 review below, current address and phone at bottom:

The Squeeze Inn used to be tucked along Merchant Row in what was once known as Milton Junction.  These days, the two Miltons have long been merged.  The original Squeeze Inn was in an old wooden building that butts right up against the street.  There were a couple of tables along the wall and a few stools at the lunch counter.  One most notable landmark was the mural on the wall of the tiny restaurant highlighting the caricatures of perennial patrons.

After decades they have moved the restaurant the 10 miles or so out to even-more-rural Newville - along the I-90 Interstate.  Due to some arrangement with the current landlord, the mural has yet to be transferred to the new location.  The mural is however in the hands of the restaurant owner.  The new location on the hill heading down to the Rock River has housed eateries off and on for decades.  I remember it at one time as a root beer joint.

The Squeeze Inn has always been known for its breakfasts and solid lunches.  The new location has far more space.  There is even an extra nook of a room to eat in.

Heide tried the Blue Gill fish fry.  There were four pieces of tasty fish.  I got my consummate beer-battered fried Cod.  I opted for the three-piece.  There was too much fish for me so I was able to bring one and a half pieces home.  Heide had one piece for breakfast the next morning.  We both tried the potato pancakes. They were indeed homemade. I also ordered a cup of chili to cap off my meal.  The cole slaw had a blue and red cabbage tint.

They have a variety of homemade cakes and pies.   We shared an order of the caramel apple pie.  It had good chunks of apple and walnuts mixed in.  The crust was light and delicious.  The caramel was smooth and the whole presentation was served hot.  It was topped off with cold vanilla ice cream.

Deb's Squeeze Inn is cool with Cool Dadio.  With meals, beverage, pie, and tip, we got out of there for just over 25 Bucks.

Deb's Squeeze Inn can be found at 100 Front Street, Milton, Wisconsin. It is a few hundred feet from the old original location.  Call (608) 868  -  4949 for menu, details, specials, and times.
