Snug Harbor - Turtle Lake (Delavan) - Friday Night Fish Fry

This entry was posted on 8/29/2008 5:57 PM and is filed under Taverns Wisconsin, Friday Night Fish Fry.

Heide and I have not been out to Snug Harbor - Lake front Campground - Pub and Restaurant for a while.  They are out on Turtle Lake which is due east of Janesville, Wisconsin 15 miles or so.  I might mention for historical context that my high school class had a party out on Turtle Lake many moons ago.

The tavern boasts a wood interior.  There is a good view of the lake via the big picture window and also out on the adjacent patio.  What hit us between the eyes was how friendly everyone is.  You will get the flavor of a good Wisconsin campground - we sat next to the camping supplies.  The marshmallows, batteries, charcoal, lighter fluid, bobbers, and bug spray was thoughtfully arranged on the shelves next to our table.

Heide tried the deep fried Cod and sweet potato fries. I went for the Walleye and homemade potato pancakes. Each plate came with some buttered dark bread. The taste of the tarter and cole slaw suggested homemade as well.

With meals, beverage, and tip the two of us got out of there for just over 25 Bucks.  Snug Harbor is cool with Cool Dadio.  If you are looking for a good ol' Wisconsin tavern and lake experience you should not be disappointed.

Snug Harbor can be found out at Turtle Lake.  You want the side of the lake off County Road "A" where County "P" crosses.  Look for the big sign and Wisconsin Parkway (actually a lake road). Turtle Lake is generally between Janesville and Elkhorn - as the crow flies. Call  (608) 883 -  6998 for more info.
