Marine Corps League - Beloit - Friday Night Fish Fry
This entry was posted on 7/18/2008 4:36 AM and is filed under Taverns Wisconsin, Friday Night Fish Fry.
Been by the place a number of times down on Riverside Drive on the north side of Beloit - finally stopped in. The Marine Corps League puts on a thoughtful fish fry from about 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday nights. You will find the eats on the lower level in what they call the Fox Hole Bar and Restaurant. The presentation is open to the public and no one noticed an old Army guy wandering around the Marine joint.
I got the impression there is a combination of volunteers and staff that make the process work. The hostess warned us they were a couple waitresses short. But I noticed right away the void was filled by other folks. A bus girl took our orders. A guy from the kitchen brought out our food.
Heide got the baked Cod with potato pancakes. I opted for the three-piece Perch with mashed potatoes. There are other fish options of course like fried Cod or Catfish. One thing that we both appreciated was the generous salad bar that came with the meal. With that salad bar they offered a tomato basil soup and an Au Gratin soup. The latter was to die for.
The Marine Corps League is cool with Cool Dadio. With our soda pops, meals, and tip we got out of there for just under 25 Bucks. Give them a try some time - like the active Marines, they will not leave you in the lurch no matter what the adversity. You will find them at 3807 South Riverside Drive on the north side of Beloit, Wisconsin. Call (608) 362 - 5249 for more information.
