The Shopiere Bar and Grill is the first establishment to make both the Cool Dadio "Tavern Burger and Fries" list, and the "Friday Night Fish Fry" list. The place has a pleasant view from the back picture window. It looks over a nice patio down to Turtle Creek that meanders through the village. The staff is friendly and you will no doubt need to converse a bit while you are there.

On Friday they offer a three-piece Cod dinner for $6.75 that comes with waffle fries, cole slaw, and a roll. You can also get Walleye for $8.25. A small soup of the day will set you back 2.75. The Cod was in ample portions and crispy. The fries were also crisp and fresh. The cole slaw and role passed the Cool Dadio muster.

In their standard menu they offer a Quarter Pound Burger for $3.25 or a Half Pounder for $4.00. Add fries for $1.25. Some of the fix'ns will add a few cents to the cost. The Burger is good and juicy. The bun will be slightly toasted as I remember. Be sure and eat your fresh pickle.

Shopiere Bar and Grill is cool with Cool Dadio. You will find it at 5227 East County Trunk J, where it meets County Trunk S, just on the edge of Shopiere, Wisconsin. Call (608) 362-6349 for more info and times. You should not be disappointed.

This week's Wisconsin soldier to remember is Army Staff Sergeant Todd Cornell, age 38, who died Tuesday, November 9, 2004. The Iraqi unit he was serving with came under attack in Fallujah, Iraq. Sergeant Cornell was the 26th soldier from Wisconsin killed in action in Iraq. Cornell died while he was serving in an advisory role with the Iraqi unit. Cornell was assigned to the Detachment 9, 1st Battalion, 339th Infantry Regiment, Army Reserve, based in Michigan. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted Todd is survived by his mom and dad Renee and Robert Cornell, a daughter, Catlin, 10, and a son, Jake, 8, and a brother and a sister. Staff Sergeant Cornell had been in the military 16 years. He arrived in Iraq in February of 2004. The Journal Sentinel went on to mention Todd Cornell joined the military after graduating from high school in Menomonee Falls. He lived in West Bend when home from duty.
