This entry was posted on 8/31/2007 1:57 AM and is filed under Friday Night Fish Fry.

I am trying to fit a Friday fish fry or two back into my life and around my two jobs. The perfect place last week was The Edgewater Inn. You will find it tucked up against the Rock River across from the dam in Indianford, Wisconsin. It is a small place, much like an old soda fountain shop, if any of you are old enough to remember those days. They usually are open Tuesday thru Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. no doubt to catch the breakfast and lunch crowd passing around that way on County Road M. Janice the operator of the place, opens back up on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for fish fry.

I got the two-piece Perch and ordered hash browns with onions. Janice fries up the potatoes and onions from scratch, it is not frozen stuff. The tarter sauce is smooth and creamy and homemade. The Perch was tender and lightly breaded. I got the crab salad as my salad options. A roll and butter comes with the deal. Seems like I got out of there after the meal, a Diet Pepsi, and 20 percent tip for way under 10 Dollars.

The Edgewater Inn is cool with Cool Dadio. It is located at 3518 W. County Road M, in Indianford, Wisconsin. Take Hwy 51 south from Edgerton or north from Janesville and look for Cty M and head to Indianford. Call (608) 884-3909 for more fish and daily menu offerings.

This week's Wisconsin soldier to remember is U.S. Marine Corporal Adrian V. Soltau, 21 of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Corporal Soltau was on his second tour of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was killed in an explosion Monday, September 13, 2004 near Fallujah, in Anbar Province, Iraq. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel stated that, Adrian followed his older brother Andre, 23, onto the football team and honor roll at Milwaukee Madison High School, then into the Marine Corps. The Journal Sentinel went on to say Corporal Soltau was nearing his time to come home. Adrian Soltau has seven siblings. He went to boot camp in August 2001 two years after his brother entered the Corps. Corporal Adrian V. Soltau was in Company A, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. He was killed in combat action. Adrian was the 21st soldier from Wisconsin and the second graduate of Milwaukee Public Schools to die in the fighting since the United States entered Iraq in March 2003.

3,733 Americans have been killed in Iraq since Spring 2003.

27,662 U.S. troops have been wounded in action in Iraq since Spring 2003.

78 Wisconsin soldiers have been killed in Iraq since Spring 2003.

112 journalists (several nationalities) have been killed in Iraq since Spring 2003.
