My job in the newspaper world is interfering with my Friday fish fry attendance so I am on the hunt for another Wisconsin favorite of mine - tavern burgers and fries. On 1700 North Washington Street in Janesville (also called Business 14) you will find Watering Hole. It is down from Riverside Golf Course. The inside is spacious for a tavern and well kept. The outside is neat and tidy too. You will usually find some guys in there talking about golf. In amongst the golfers, there is often blue-collar guys talking their trade shop-talk. It makes for an interesting combination. During the winter, Watering Hole offers a tavern fish fry. But, today we are talking burgers and fries. Who ever is behind the bar on any given visit, they have always been attentive to my order there. Today I got two cans of Diet Pepsi, a cheese burger, and good thick French fries - with 20 percent tip for nine Bucks. There is generous pickle, tomato, and lettuce added. The tables are well stocked with all the tools you will need.

Give Watering Hole a tumble if you have the urge for a burger. Call (608) 752-4119 for times and more food options. You should not be disappointed. Watering Hole is cool with Cool Dadio.
