The other day I went to a send-off get-together up in Madison for another media guy. Casey is taking the opportunity as it presents itself, to leave radio and go to Marquette Law School. He had a good and successful five-year run as a Madison talk-radio host. When I mentioned to him I was going to use the evening to kill two birds with one stone and do a restaurant review as well, he asked if I was going to write about the place the party was being held at. Sorry, but it just does not fit into my genre of pizza and fish. At any rate, good luck Casey. Maybe if one of the big media companies I am always ripping on finally sues me, you can represent me in court. Good luck brother.

I hopped on the teal and cream Harley and headed down town to Pizza Di Roma. It is on State Street. I used to go there when I took classes at the Madison Area Technical School's downtown building. Pizza Di Roma is the consummate utility pizza joint - right up Cool Dadio's alley. They love to serve up slices to the hordes of college students that wander in from nearby UW-Madison. Big slices will run you from two-and-a-half Bucks to three-fifty depending on what you get. The best bet is to get a whole pizza and save some for leftovers.

I got my usual 14 inch onion and pepperoni. With a soda the whole deal cost me $10.50. I am eating the left overs now as I type. Pizza Di Roma is cool with Cool Dadio.

They are located on 313 State Street in Madison, Wisconsin. They are centrally located for the Farmers Market, Micheal Feldman's show, Concert on the Square and any number Madison traditions. Call them at (608) 268-0900 for more food options and the various prices. You should not be disappointed. They are open college-town hours, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.

This week's Wisconsin soldier to remember is Army Specialist Michael McGlothin, 21 of Milwaukee who was killed by an improvised explosive device Saturday, April 14, 2004 while on patrol outside Baghdad, Iraq. Specialist McGlothin had been in Iraq for less than a month at the time of his death. Michael was a 2000 Pulaski High School graduate. Specialist McGlothin was the 17th Wisconsin service member killed in Iraq. He was the first casualty in the Iraq war from Milwaukee. He was a member of the Army's 115th Forward Support Battalion, Division Support Command, 1st Cavalry Division. The unit is based out of Fort Hood, Texas. Michael enlisted in the Army in January 2002. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, McGlothin enjoyed history and social studies classes in high school, and hunting and fishing in his free time. He also played the guitar. He attended Hartford Union High School for his freshman and sophomore years, then moved to Milwaukee, and transferred to Pulaski for his final two years of school.
